The Dave Clark Five A group from North London who began because they wanted to finance their rugby team, The Dave Clark Five reached phenomenal success in the United States; perhaps more than in the U.K. The DC5, as they were often called, were as near equal to The Beatles in sales and chart toppers than any other band in 1964. Even above The Stones, The Animals and The Kinks. The group had hits that included "Do You Love Me?" "Glad All Over," "Because," and "Bits and Pieces." The good looking Dave Clark, drummer, was the leader of the group, although keyboardist Mike Smith sang most of the songs. |
